Year 2020

This house is located a few hours from Bogotá in a region with a warm climate and abundant nature. Its design was centered around a large interior courtyard with the concept of bringing greenery into the house to play a prominent role. This courtyard, which enriches the daily living experience of the project, was also planned to help cool the spaces, creating a microclimate that, thanks to the generous proposed vegetation, provides shade and refreshes the house.

Volumetrically, the house is the result of the intersection of vertical and horizontal planes that weave together, generating a repetitive minimalist language that characterizes the way the planes connect and shape the different spaces.

Its flat roofs extend to create shadows, protecting the open social spaces such as the living room, dining room, and kitchen from the afternoon sun. Its exterior space, where the pool is located, was designed as a threshold between the house and its surroundings, creating a connection with the natural canyon located in front.

Concept

Inside the house, we always aimed to frame the vegetation surrounding the house, emphasizing the idea of making greenery the protagonist in each of the spaces. The corridors, which are key spaces, end in an open area that frames the landscape.

In this weekend house, we were interested in understanding nature as a main element that determines the success of the project’s living experience. For this reason, each space seeks to connect with the exterior through openings that act as frames paying tribute to the natural landscape of this region.
