The overall concept of the building is to develop a training center that fulfills all its intended functions while also making a statement of Mitsubishi Electric’s presence in the city.

Achieving this goal doesn’t necessarily mean luxury or excessive spending; rather, it’s about pursuing a bold design that allows the building to stand out within a residential context.

The Cantilever

The form of industrial buildings is usually determined by the function they serve, and since they are part of an industrial context, there is typically no additional interest in adding formal value to the building.

In the case of this project, however, being immersed in a residential context prompted the search for a way to generate a visual impact that is functionally justified according to its use.

Inspired by the pure forms of contemporary Japanese architecture, this building is summarized in a cantilevered volume, where this overhang serves as the main entrance to the building. In other words, the cantilever serves as the formal argument to fulfill a function and, at the same time, distinctively mark this project above others in its category or immediate context.
